Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing
Cloud computing, also known as 'on-demand
computing', is a kind of Internet-based
computing, where shared resources, data and
information are provided to computers and other
devices on-demand. Cloud computing and
storage solutions provide users and enterprises
with various capabilities to store and process
their data in third-party data centres. Some
example of cloud computing application are
dropbox, google doc, IBM Smart Cloud etc..

Cloud Computing

Types of clouds

Private Cloud: This type of cloud is maintained within an

organization and used solely for their internal purpose.

Public Clod: Public cloud services are open for public, it may
be free or paid.

Hybrid Cloud: This type of cloud is composed of multiple

internal or external cloud.

Cloud Computing

Cloud Stakeholders
There are three types of stakeholders cloud providers, cloud
users and the end users. Cloud providers provide cloud
services to the cloud users. The cloud users develop their
product using these services and deliver the product to the
end users.
End User

Cloud User

Cloud Provider

Cloud Computing

Cloud Computing
Architecture
The cloud providers
actually have the
physical data centers
to provide virtualized
services to their users
through Internet. The
cloud providers often
provide separation
between application
and data.

Cloud Computing

Cloud Services
cloud-computing providers offer their "services" according
to different models.

Cloud Computing

Software as a Services
In the software as a service (SaaS) model, users
gain access to application software and
databases. Cloud providers manage the
infrastructure and platforms that run the
applications. SaaS is sometimes referred to as
"on-demand software" and is usually priced on a
pay-per-use basis or using a subscription fee. For
example we can get 15 GB free space in Google
drive but if we need more space we can upgrade
to a higher pack by paying subscription fee.

Cloud Computing

Platform as a Services
PaaS vendors offers a development environment to
application developers. The provider typically develops
toolkit and standards for development and channels for
distribution and payment. In the PaaS models, cloud
providers deliver a computing platform, typically including
operating system, programming-language execution
environment, database, and web server. Application
developers can develop and run their software solutions
on a cloud platform without the cost and complexity of
buying and managing the underlying hardware and
software layers.

Cloud Computing

Infrastructure as a Service
IaaS service provides the users of the cloud greater
exibility to lower level than other services. It gives even
CPU clocks with OS level control to the developers. Here
cloud users can install operating-system images and their
application software on the cloud infrastructure.

Cloud computing in Indian context

1. E-Governance: Recently Government of India have
taken initiative and launched several projects to
facilitate people with better mechanism of governance
using IT as a tool.
2. Digital India: Digital India is an initiative by the
Government of India to ensure that Government
services are made available to citizens electronically
by improving online infrastructure and by increasing
Internet connectivity.
3. Rural development: Now a days most of the villages
have some access to electricity and cellular phone. So
Govt. can use cloud services to develop the rural
areas.

Cloud Computing

Conclusion
Cloud computing is a tremendous innovation in the digital
landscape that has changed the way IT solutions are
delivered and how end-users put them to use. The cloud
computing space is growing and will continue to do so. In
developing counties like India cloud computing can be
applied in the e-governance and rural development with
great success. There is no question that India has
enormous capabilities to become a global hub for cloud
computing. The future of cloud computing as well as
career opportunities in the field shines bright for India.
