Consultation on proposal to present SWD

data on My School

17 June 2016

Background
Education Ministers agreed to the addition of a measure
relating to SWD as part of a set of enhancements to the My
School website in the ACARA work plan 16/17 - 19/20.
The Joint Working Group for Students With Disability (JWG),
chaired by the Australian Government Department of
Education and Training, undertook significant work from both
a policy and data integrity standpoint on SWD data.

National Consistent Collection on

Students With Disability (NCCD)
The SWD data are collected through the NCCD.
Collection counts the number of school students with
disability and a classification of the level of educational
adjustment they receive.
Progressively implemented over the period 2013-2015
with all government and non-government schools
participating from 2015.

NCCD and Quality Assurance

Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC) were engaged to
monitor the quality of data reporting by visiting schools
directly and discussing with staff to understand how they
completed the NCCD.
Online training and a helpdesk provided to schools on
how to complete the NCCD survey.
Focus on how to classify students disability category
and the level of adjustment.
