Similarities
Both magazine covers share the same positioning of the
masthead at the top middle of the page, this stands out and
informs the target audience what magazine it is straight away.
The model in both magazines are looking right into the
camera, this makes the target audience feel as though they
are connecting with the model and makes it more personal for
them. Both magazines have cover lines surrounding the main
image stating what is inside the magazine and showing what
type of genre it is. Moreover, these magazines share a colour
scheme that matches the genre and the target audience of
the magazine. Additionally, these magazines also share a
tagline that is placed below the masthead which again tells
the target audience what the magazine is about and the genre
of it.
Differences
Vogue magazine (1) has the price and edition in the corner of
their front cover whereas my magazine(2) doesnt but instead
I have the barcode in the bottom left of my cover. Magazine 1
has a plain coloured background compared to magazine 2
which has the sixth form building in the background to show
who the target audience is for and the genre of the magazine.
Another difference between the magazines would be that in
magazine 1 the model is a medium long shot so they are the
main focus of the cover however, in magazine 2 the model is a
long shot and the main focus is the model and the building.
Finally, magazine 2 has a logo in the corner whereas magazine
1 doesnt but is filled with the masthead instead.

Similarities
Both magazine contents pages share coverlines that reveal
what is inside the magazine and what genre it is. Also, they
both share secondary images which tells the target audience
that the magazine is aimed for them. Moreover, the
magazines both have what issue no. the magazine is so the
target audience is aware of which one it is. Additionally, both
magazines have the masthead on the contents page to show
what magazine it is and the genre of the magazine.
Differences
Glamour magazine (1) only has one secondary image
compared to my magazine(2) which has 3. This could be
because they have more content inside of their magazine as it
is well known whereas mine is only the first edition. Magazine
1 has their masthead spread across the top of the page in big,
bold letters, however my magazine has its masthead in the
corner slightly smaller. Magazine 1 has a website underneath
(tagline) the masthead which advertises the magazine. As my
magazine is only the first edition I wont need a website. In
magazine 1 they have used an anchorage by their image
which tells the target audience what the image is about and
what it is representing. My magazine however has a small
niche market as it is only aimed for students who attend
college.
