Revit Server
Frequently Asked Questions

1. If I need to checkout the model for C3D or QC, what should I do?
Perform the QC online. Changes should only be done online. Only detach the
model when you need to export the model to C3D and do not replace the model
in the server.

2. I am the owner of the workset and Im empowering someone

else to edit my model. What should I do?
Pass the ownership to him/her. Relinquish all your ownership, then he/she must
immediately takeover the ownership of the workset.

3. How to change workset of an element?

Select the element, find the Workset parameter in the properties tab then
change it.

4. If I accidentally closed a request notification from someone,

where can I find it.
Go to Editing Request under Collaboration tab in Revit to manage all requests.

5. If I need to perform a roll back or replace a Revit file in the

server. What should I do?
Speak to the admin, ask he/she to do it for you. Do not do it yourself.
14

6. Can worksets have multiple owner?

No. However, the elements can be owned by someone else temporarily until the
next sync. This will only happen when he/she requested for a temporary
ownership on the element.

7. If the workset do not have an owner, but it is shown as noneditable workset. In this case, can I edit the model?
Yes I can edit the model if it is an open workset. In this situation, I will be
considered as a borrower of the workset until the next sync.

8. If I require the owner to grant me the permission to edit the

element but the owner is not online or he/she missed the
request notification. What should I do?
Go to the owner and remind him/her personally. Dont wait for the owner to
realise themselves, it might take forever.

9. Can someone else see the Revit file that I have linked?
This depends on whether the user shares the same file path to the linked file. If
both users have the same file path to the file, then both can see the link.
Tips: Every user can view the linked Revit file if it is linked from Revit Server.
