O Digital divide is a term that refers to the gap between

demographics and regions that have access to


moderninformation and communication technology, and those
that don't or have restricted access. This technology can include
the telephone, television,personal computersand theInternet.
Socio-economic and issues surrounding the ability to have the
knowledge and skills that enable them to benefits. This includes
having the access of a computers and internet and those who
do not have access to such.
O Interaction between humans and computers has increased as
we go into the twenty-first century. The capability to access
computers and the internet has become increasingly important
to engage in the economic, political, and social aspects of the
world.

DIGITAL DIVIDE

Social capital may be defined as those resources permanent in


social relations which advance collective action. Social
capital resources include trust, standards, and networks of
association representing any group which assemble usually
for a common purpose.

Role to social capital


O In particular information social capital helps overcome the digital divides in access,

general use, and online communication. Before the Internet can regenerate social
capital, the right social capital should be in place to secure the digital divides.
Highlighting the relationship between social capital and digital divide, the results
have significant implications for policymakers and practitioners.

The digital divide social capital effects are :


O

Not feeling a sense of belonging ,a feeling of trust and security


when using social networks and other apps.
O Ways in which we can assist the government would be involving
people in more workshops and educating people on the role social
capital.

O Knowing how that results from the experience, information,

knowledge, learning, and skills of the employees of an


organization. Of all the factors of production, knowledge
capital creates the longest lasting competitive advantage. It
may consist entirely of technical information (as in chemical
and electronics industries) or may reside in the actual
experience or skills acquired by the individuals (as in
construction and steel industries). Knowledge capital is an
essential component of human capital.

O Digital divide has effects in knowledge capital. The three

familiar factors of production are land, capital and labour.


This changes a little in the knowledge economy, where the
emphasis lies on learning which is the principle generation
variable. Information could be broken down into pieces and
communicated as data.

Human Capital

O Human capital is defined as skills that labour force possesses and

is regarded as a resource or asset. It includes the opinion that


there are investments in people, for example education and
health, and that these investments increase an individuals
productiveness . Human capital is always owned by the
individuals who have it, and can 'walk out the door' unless it is
recorded in a tangible form, or is incorporated in the
organization's procedures and structure.

Role to Human capital


O The Digital divide is a result of the IT Revolution and

research has associated it with the rewiring of the human


brain. It introduces the idea of human capital and presents
some of the methods employed in the literature. It also
investigates the potential change, due to the digital divide,
in the metabolic example of a society related with quality
changes of the Human Activity.

Assisting the Government on access issues


O Reconsider and improve social welfare services and financing.
O Improve and increase early childhood development.
O Grow social support and enlarge the scope of the contributory social

security system.
O Develop the capabilities of communities to attain sustainable livelihoods
and household food security.
O Build up coordination, incorporation, planning, monitoring and evaluation
of services. South Africa has made excellent improvements in building
social organisations and promoting a new single national identity, and
work is progressing in this regard.
O Support young people to more skills and jobs so that we grow
economically.
