Count and Noncount Noun


There are two categories of nouns in
English: Count Nouns and Noncoun
Nouns.
1. Count nouns are nouns that can be
counted (e.g., school) because count
nouns can be counted, they have
singular and plural forms.
The regular count nouns are

Some plural count nouns are irregular;


they dont take the s ending.

If a noun is used to modify another


noun (if it is used as an adjective), it is
always sngular.

2. Noncount Nouns are nouns that


cannot be counted (e.g. Intelligence,
meat, love). Because these nouns
cannot be counted, they generally
cannot be made plural.
If the subject of the sentence is a
noncount noun, use a singular verb.
