The NetNumen U31 system has three layers.
The system connects several local NEs and provides
northbound interface to connect the upper-level network
management.

Hardware Structure
The hardware of NetNumen U31 consists of two parts,
namely servers and multiple clients.
The two servers could be classified into the application
server and the database server respectively.
Servers could be two-node cluster or single node
server depending on customers needs.

Hardware Requirements
Hardware Configuration of the Server

NetNumen U31 server supports various hardware such as SUN
server, PC server of ATCA blade servers.

The minimized requirement for the NetNumen U31 server:
Memory: 4 Gb (8 Gb recommended)
Hard disk capacity: 160 Gb
Hardware Configuration of the Client

Clients usually use PCs of the same brand and model.

The minimized requirement for the NetNumen U31 client:
Memory: 2 Gb
Hard disk capacity: 40 Gb

Server Partition Planning (Windows)
Suggestion:
Two disks are configured for the server, and act as

mirror ones for each other.


The total hard disk is divided into C and D partitions.

The capacity of 20 Gb is allocated to C partition and the

rest capacity is allocated to D partition. The file system


of the partition is NTFS.

Server Partition Planning (Windows)
The detailed installation paths are listed below:

Windows system: installed in the default path of C drive.

Database program software: installed in the default path of C
drive.

Server software: installed in D:\ZX-EMS.

Database files: installed in D:\emsdata.

Server Host Name Planning
When multi-servers are used in the system, the host
name format for each server is:
U31+"_"+"*".

The "*" represents double-digit numbers.


For example: The first server is named as U31_01, the
second server is named as U31_02.

IP Address Planning
The IP addresses for both server and client should
be set as static IP addresses (non-DHCP).
The IP address configuration can be made according to
requirements.
Client Partition Planning
one disk is configured for the client.
The total hard disk is divided into C and D partitions.
The capacity of 20 Gb is allocated to C partition and
the rest capacity is allocated to D partition.
The file system of the partition is NTFS.

Windows Operating System Installation and
Settings
The PC servers of the NetNumen U31 system run the Windows
2003 Enterprise Edition operating system. You need to install and
configure this operating system on both PC servers.
On both R400 servers, it is necessary to install hardware drivers
(Mainboard/NIC/Video card/Sound card )
The NetNumen U31 system uses two PC servers as a dual-server
cluster system, each of which requires four NICs.
Two crossover cables that respectively connect to NICs integrated
on two PC servers are used as the heartbeat line

Server Software Installation
The procedure to install the NetNumen U31 server
is as follows:
1. Copy the installation files to a designated directory.
2. Run the installation program and configure the related
parameters.
3. Check the startup of the server.

Prerequisites
The database service is started.
You have known the user name and password of the
database service.
You have copied the installation file s to the server.
You have logged in to the server as administrator (for
Windows) or root (for Solaris and Linux) user.

1. Enter the directory where the installation files
located.
2. Perform one of the following operations to
execute the installation file.
For Windows system, double the setup.bat file.
For Solaris and Linux system, execute the ./setup.sh file
in the Terminal window.

3. Press Enter to use the default path or set another path


according to actual needs.

4. Select English from the drop-down list and
then click Next.

5. Select I accept the license agreement and
then click Next.

6. Select Normal Installation and Server Program.

Normal Install:
Suitable for the first
installation.
Delta Install: Select
this option when you
want to modify some
installed components
such as selecting other
products after the
software has been
installed on the server.

7. Select the network scale according to the server hardware
configuration. Then click Next.
Scale 1 :Suitable for
the computer with 2
Gb physical memory.
In this mode, at most
20 clients can log in to
the server at the same
time.
lScale 2: Suitable
for the computer with
4 Gb physical
memory. In this mode,
at most 50 clients can
log in to the server at
the same time.

8. Select the path and products to be installed as
required. Then click Next.

9. Set the database connection parameters and click Test Database
Connection to test if the database can be connected. If the database
connection is successful, a success message box appears. Click OK
on the message box and click Next.

10. Click the database to change the database installation path. Or
keep the default settings and click Next

11. Type the servers IP address in the Main
process server address and then click Next.

12. After the detection is passed, click Next.

13. Check the installation information and click
Install.

14. When the files are unzipped and copied to the
node, click Next.

15. Click Yes to start installing the database

16. It will take some time during the database
installation. After database installation finishes,
click Next.

17. After all the server parameters are set, click
Next to continue.

18. When the system initialization is finished, click
Next.

19. Click Finish to finish the installation.
Client Software Installation
Prerequisites
The Windows operating system is running properly.
The hardware configuration meets the requirements.
You have logged in to the windows system as
administrator.
The client installation CD is prepared.

1. Execute the setup.bat file under the installation
directory. Press Enter to use the default disk or set
another path according to actual needs

2. Select English from the drop-down list and then
click Next.

3. Check the I accept the license agreement
check box and then click Next.

4. Select Normal Installation and Client Program.
Then click Next.

5. Select the installation path and the products to
be installed as required. Then click Next.

6. When the detection is passed, click Next.

7. Check the installation information and then click
Next.

8. When the file s are unzipped and copied to the
node, click Next.

9. Click Next to continue.

10. Click Yes to initialize the client scenes.

11. When the system initialization is finished, click
Finish to finish the installation.
