GENERAL EXPLANATION

The Calculation in the ship refer to book of the Electrical

Installation ship, Sardono Sarwito 1995.
The factors that needed to be consider in determining the
type, number and type of electricity in this ship are:
1. Crew on-board the ship
2. Broad rooms
3. Room types
Electricity are used when ships are sailing and even at port in
order to do her activities.
Socket or electrical terminal is used to supply power to
electrical equipment in every room and the power shall be in
accordance with the existing specifications.

3
STEPS OF CALCULATION

1. Calculate the dimension of the room (Room Index)

2. Calculate the reflection factor
3. Calculate the efficiency armature
4. Calculate the intensity of the room (Flux)
5. Calculate the Lumen
6. Obtained the number of lamps needed
7. Determine the number of sockets needed
8. Calculate the total power of electricity

4
FORMULA

1. Calculate the dimension of the room (Room Index)

2. Calculate the reflection factor

Reflection factor is the index value and efficiency caused
by ceiling wall and floor. The index values are obtained
based on data.

Ceiling (rc): 0.75
Wall (cw): 0.5
Floor (cf): 0.1

Based on the value of the room index and the efficiency of each
index it can be seen the efficiency value by interpolation.

5
FORMULA

3. Calculate the Efficiency Armature

Values are obtained by the equation of armature efficiently.

where: d= Diversity (maintenance factor)

4. Calculate the intensity illumination room (Flux)

where: E= Lightning intensity and A= Area

5. Calculate the Lumen

where: k= 125 for FL and 75 for IL

6
FORMULA

6. Number of lamps

7. Determine the number of socket

Type of Socket are 2A, 4A, 6A and 10A. In determining the
amount of socket, it is based on the equipment and needs
required in the room.
8. Calculation of the total power

Calculation of the total power is the power calculation
armature used with power from stop contact. Power
calculation in each room is shown in the following
calculation.

Where: N= Number of armature, p= power of armature,

and a= size of the socket.
