BUILDING A GRASSROOTS LEVEL

SPORTS PROGRAMME
AN OVERVIEW
IN THE BEGINNING

VISION

The vision is to unlock a child/ young players true potential by introducing

cutting edge Professionalism into the Academy sports curriculum and building a
professional sports Youth Development Programme that is on par with the latest
international standards and practices.
THE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME PHILOSOPHY I

Apart from achieving sporting excellence by using the Best Practices, we also use sports
as a personality development tool in fostering team spirit and the ability to work together
towards a common goal.

Targets are set by coaches and the team works towards achieving these, following a
structured, time bound training programme, with discipline and commitment.

The achievement of the targeted goal through disciplined, committed effort, brings about
tremendous satisfaction and self belief in the players, and these attributes then stay with
them for life, helping them to become better individuals
THE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME PHILOSOPHY II

Teams are taken to major National/ international sports tournaments , both

nationally and different countries where our boys had an opportunity to interact and
compete with other young sportsmen from all over the world.

Apart from just competing at an international level, this has also given them a chance
to build friendships and be exposed to the language and culture of different countries
through the powerful medium of a shared sport.

We believe that this kind of exchange is the best possible way to shape
personalities and help young to develop into responsible, well adjusted individuals,
at ease anywhere, in an increasingly interconnected world of Global Citizens.
THE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME PHILOSOPHY II

As a result of this, the Academy is being gradually seen as a training and nurturing ground
of high quality, for the serious sportsman of tomorrow, who wants to pursue both sports
and personality development seriously, in his growing up years.
This is tremendously attractive to a growing, parental section that wants to provide and
expose their wards to the best of the life shaping influences and benefits of playing sports
seriously.
The players can actually see and feel their personalities develop, and confidence and self
esteem grow, through their successes on the sports field, and this motivates them to train

harder and put in more committed effort than they would have ever done otherwise .
THE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME PHILOSOPHY III

This commitment and discipline spills over into other areas of their lives as well, making
them more responsible, unselfish, dependable and hard working team players, all of which
are wonderful life skills for a child to imbibe in school.

Quite a few parents have acknowledged and appreciated the inculcation of these qualities
in their children.

This shaping of personalities through the rigour of sport, is the USP of our Programme,
which makes it different from other Academies. It is our belief that this will help us to
attract more and more children, in times to come, because it is something that no other
Programme has.
Factors Determining the Quality of Sports Education

Availability in writing, of a clear cut, structured, age specific training curriculum or syllabus, for each
sport, with time bound objectives and benchmarks. In other words, what to teach, at what age and when?
What systems and processes are in place for the implementation of that curriculum?

Who are the coaches and what is their background? Availability in sufficient numbers for each sport, of
qualified coaches with coaching certifications from their respective sports federations or associations, who
are capable of delivering that curriculum effectively.

What is the level of coaching certification that these qualified coaches hold, whether it is entry level,
intermediate or elite level coaching certifications. Are there any training / refresher courses or seminars
and workshops that the coaches are sent on, to upgrade and update their knowledge levels?
Factors Determining the Quality of Sports Education II

Availability of qualified support staff and sports professionals Viz. Physio, Fitness Trainers, dieticians and
nutritionists, Recovery professionals like Yoga and Meditation teachers, Sports Masseurs etc. Availability
of in house Medical Back up.

Availability of quality Gym and Swimming pool. Good quality sports infrastructure, viz. multiple grounds,
pitches and Synthetic and Indoor surfaces, supported by quality, branded playing kit. Availability of Life
Guards, Breathing Apparatus. All Coaches trained on CPR.

What is the level of Tournament and match exposure, both nationally and overseas. Any exposure to elite
level players, within and outside the school environment?

What is the level of Sports Achievements of the school/ academy in the recent past? How many
National / International Trophies and medals won? How many players representing State/ national
Teams?

A SAMPLE OF THE SPORTS EDUCATION CURRICULUM SHOWING WEEKLY TRAINING PLANS

The Sporting Education Program ( S.E.P)

The SEP Is a program designed to take children through the main fundamentals of their chosen sport.
It is a plan laid out in advance that clearly shows how the program will be administered, what will be taught and
when.

It also shows how the coaching groups will be set up.

It is a sporting education program that will give the children of this Academy the very best available at school level
in the country.

An education program of this type is a very powerful tool, and if prepared with the right amount of data and
technical detail, could and should be used in the recruitment process for the Academy Program.

The aim of is to develop a Football Education Program (F.E.P) A Cricket Education Program (C.E.P) a Tennis
Education Program (T.E.P) a Basketball Education Program (B.B.E.P) a Badminton Education Program (B.E.P) etc for all of
the sports at the Academy.

This will be overseen by all of the various head coaches in the specific sports.
