DISCUSSION

The contribution of harmonics to the power

factor of the system had been test.
For the simulation, the circuit has been drawn
and simulate in PSIM simulator.
Harmonic being measured between 3 wires.
For results, all the three graph give the same
value which is 45 V.
For harmonic spectrum, there is only
fundamental spectrum. There is no harmonics
because of the ideal power line.
For the experiment using FLUKE 435, the
graph of power line output is slightly changed
from the simulation output.
All the three line in the graph give different
output voltage and the graph is not uniform.
For harmonic spectrum, the harmonic order
was in the third.
Effect of harmonics for cable is:-
a) cause Cable losses and dissipated as heat.
b) Skin effect is a phenomenon whereby current
tends to flow near the surface of a conductor
where the impedance is least.
c) proximity effect, is due to the mutual
inductance of conductors arranged closely
parallel to one another.
d) At fundamental frequencies, the skin effect
and proximity effects are usually negligible,
