Popular features associated with LinkedIn
1. Groups: through the use of groups individuals or companies can join specific groups
relevant to their search on the LinkedIn site to connect and communicate messages,
send or give feedback, and share information or links to websites to help get more traffic.
2. How you are connected: This recently added feature helps LinkedIn users locate a
company or person by using their contacts. Finding a way in through mutual
connections is a more natural way to connect to businesses or other people. This way
there is a shared interest and a conversation starter (Redlitz, 2014).
3. Articles: When a LinkedIn member seeks to get traction on the new article they wrote,
the best place to get it is through this social media site. LinkedIn allows their members the
option to share their material publicly not only on their website but also across various
social media platforms. This way when people search a specific subject possibly
pertaining to such article, they will find what they are looking for, and the writer will gain
not only traction but also more connections. This feature can also be used as a great
marketing strategy for businesses.

5 How does LinkedIn
fit into the social
media category?
LinkedIn in itself is considered a social media site because It
connects individuals with one another as well as with
organizations. It keeps people talking and communicating
because like Facebook and Twitter its allows its users to update
information, post content, and share experiences, ideas, and
opinions with followers and the world. However, the difference is
LinkedIn focuses more on the business or professional side of
social media. Where Facebook and Twitter are more informal in
terms of social interaction, LinkedIn is formal. This ultimately
means that LinkedIns platform is geared towards or meant for
business-related or career-related social interactions. LinkedIn
offers its users an array of opportunities to share info, content,
ideas, and thoughts with groups of their choosing using the
LinkedIn group feature, or of a particular profession, or people
who share the same interest in a company or profession and
want to learn more.
6
So why care about LinkedIn?
LinkedIn is unlike other social media sites because it offers an array of
options from connecting one person to another to connecting people to
companies, associates, executives, CEOs, presidents, and even company
founders. It offers opportunities to experience and learn new things by
allowing their users to add their information, content, experience, and
preferences to their profile. LinkedIn is giving their users a way in to get
discovered and noticed. A path into a specific world of their choosing,
whether it be a professional, technological, or sociological world. There is
are worlds of opportunities that are just a click away.

Would I use LinkedIn?
It is safe to say that I would very much use LinkedIn. In fact, I currently have a LinkedIn
account because it has helped me immensely when it came to looking for jobs.
Being able to link my resume to my account and use easy apply to apply for different
jobs makes the process much less time consuming.
LinkedIn has allowed me to connect to many people who happen to work at the
companies I am applying to. LinkedIn, therefore, gives me the option of contact one
of my connections and ask if they could write a recommendation, which could
improve my chances in getting the position.
LinkedIn gives me the chance to refer recruiters to my LinkedIn page so that they
could get a better idea of who I am as well as my work ethic. This is because LinkedIn
gives its user the option of writing anything they wish about who they are, their
background of course, their experiences, and their references as well.
