Introduction
•This system is completely automatic and keeps
the panel in front of sun until that is visible.

•The unique feature of this system is that instead

of taking the earth as its reference, it takes
the sun as a guiding source.

•Its active sensors constantly monitor the sunlight

and rotate the panel towards the direction
where the intensity of sunlight is maximum.
3
Origin of the Proposal
• In remote areas the sun is a cheap source of electricity

• The output of solar cells depends on the intensity

of sunlight and the angle of incidence.

• Due to rotation of earth those panels can’t maintain

their position always in front of sun.

• This problem results in decrease of their efficiency.

4
Main Features
1. Day Time Fault Detector (DTFD)
2. Night and Cloud Detection
3. Night Time Fault Detector (NTFD)
4. Basic Automatic Sun Tracking Operation
5. Sun Tracking Sensors (STS)

5
Concept & Technology
• It converts solar energy into electrical energy.

• The solar plate move automatically with the help

of solar sensors as the sun is moving.

• When the sun rays incident on the solar panel the

electrons are colliding and produce electrical
energy.

6
FLOW CHART

7
Components
1) Night Fault Detector, Day time fault detector
2) Micro Controller (AT89c51)
3) Stepper Motor
4) Solar Cell
6) Battery Bank
7) Embedded Software
8) Capacitors
9) Resisters

8
Applications

• It can be used in villages.

• It can be used in street lights, houses.

• It can be also used in battery charging.

9
Conclusion
ASTS is a prototype towards a real system, but still
its software and hardware can be used to drive a real
and very huge solar panel. A small portable battery
can drive its control circuitry.
