Background of Dothraki in the story.

Dothraki is the language spoken by the Dothraki people, the

nomadic mounted tribes of the central plains of Essos, known as the
Dothraki Sea.
The Dothraki do not have their own writing system, nor much use
for the writing systems of neighboring peoples, so they are an illiterate
society.
The Dothraki are a race of nomadic horse-mounted warriors in
Essos, the continent to the east of Westeros across the Narrow Sea.
They inhabit the vast central plains of Essos, known as the Dothraki
sea. Their bond with horses is such that Dothraki are said to be born,
fight, and die in the saddle.
Background of Dothraki in the story.

Dothraki warriors are commonly referred to as "horselords". They

are also often called "Dothraki screamers", because of their fierce war
cries as they charge into battle and raids.
Most of their society is centered around their horses: even their
name for themselves in their own language, "Dothraki", literally means
"riders". Dothraki boys learn to shoot bows from horseback when they
are only four years old. The Dothraki will abandon a sick or injured
leader who can no longer ride a horse.
Characters who use this
language
Khal Drogo
Drogo is a khal or warlord of the
Dothraki, the famed nomadic
horse-lords of the eastern
continent beyond the Narrow Sea.
The Dothraki are fierce warriors,
skillful in battle, unrelenting in
combat and known as the savagery.
Drogo was very young to have
his own khalasar, particularly such
a large one. He is a legendary
warrior and has never been
defeated in battle.
Daenerys Targaryen
Daenerys is the only daughter and
youngest child of King Aerys II Targaryen, the
"Mad King", and his sister-wife, Rhaella. Her
father died before she was even born. The
usurper Robert Baratheon installed himself as
king, having defeated her father in the
conquest known as Robert's Rebellion.
Her pregnant mother and brother
Viserys, fled to the island of Dragonstone,
the ancestral home of House Targaryen, to
escape Robert.
On the night Daenerys was born on
Dragonstone, a severe storm raged. For this
reason, she is sometimes called "Daenerys
Stormborn".
Jorah Mormont
A knight and former heir to
Bear Island. He fled the Seven
Kingdoms into exile after
illegally selling some poachers
into slavery. Later, he joined the
service of Viserys Targaryen
and his sister, Daenerys
Targaryen
Besides the Common Tongue
of Westeros, Jorah is fluent in
the Dothraki language.

Empire.
How is Dothraki language
created?
The Dothraki vocabulary was created by David J. Peterson. HBO hired
the Language Creation Society to create the language, and after an
application process involving over thirty conlangers, David Peterson was
chosen to develop the Dothraki language. He delivered over 1700 words
to HBO, before the initial shooting Peterson drew inspiration from George
R. R. Martin’s description of the language, as well as from such languages
as Turkish, Russian, Estonian, Inuktitut and Swahili.
How is Dothraki language
created?
The Dothraki language was developed under two significant
constraints.
1. The language had to match the uses already put down in the books.
2. It had to be easily pronounceable or learnable by the actors.
These two constraints influenced the grammar and phonology of the
language: for instance, as in English, there is no contrast between
aspirated and unaspirated stops.

Morphology
Though prepositions are also sometimes employed, the language is
foremost inflectional. Prefixes, suffixes and circumfixes are all used.
Verbs conjugate in infinitive, past, present, future, two imperatives
and (archaic) participle; they also agree with person, number and
polarity.
Nouns divide into two classes, inanimate and animate. They decline
in five cases, nominative, accusative, genitive, allative and ablative.
Animate nouns also decline according to number.

Word Order
Basic word order is SVO (subject–verb–object). In a basic sentence, the order of these elements
(when all three are present) is as in English: First comes the subject (S), then comes the verb (V),
then comes the object (O).
- Khal ahhas arakh = The Khal (S) sharpened (V) the arakh (O).
When only a subject is present, the subject precedes the verb, as it does in English:
- Arakh hasa = The arakh (S) is sharp (V).
In noun phrases there is a specific order as well. The order is as follows: demonstrative, noun,
adverb, adjective, genitive noun, prepositional phrase. Prepositions always precede their noun
complements. but adjectives, possessor and prepositional phrases all follow the noun:
- jin ave sekke verven anni m'orvikoon = this very violent father of mine with a whip
Khal Drogo
- Ma rizhaan anni, vezh fin asaja rhaesheseres, maan anha valloshak azh akka.
And to my son, the stallion who will mount the world, I will also pledge a gift.

- Maan anha vazhak jin ador shiqethi finaan neva ave maisi mae. I will give him
the iron chair that his mothers father sat upon.

- Anha vazhak maan Rhaeshis Andahli. Anha, zhey Drogo, atak jin. I
will giveLands of the Andals. I, Drogo, will do this.

- Anha vidrik khalasares anni jim, finaan nakhoe rhaesheser, majin adothrak
hrazef ido yomme Havazzhifi Kazga ven et vo khal avvos. I will take my khalasar
west to where the world ends and ride wooden horses across the black salt sea as
