ABSTRACT

India is potentially the largest market for automobiles

with electric vehicles constituting less than 1% of total automobiles on-road.
This paper presents the potential to increase charge stations by utilizing
electricity from electric poles and charge electric vehicles.Hence every electric
pole has a potential of becoming a charge station in its own right. This
improvement in charging infrastructure will faster the growth of electric. The
growing environmental consciousness and seeing the adverse effects of
climate change, the governments in India are supporting initiatives for
development of eco-friendly mobility solutions including electric vehicles.
Confined spaces like airports, industrial campuses, gated communities lend
themselves easily to vehicle electrification. When the technology does not offer
major physical constraints as in electric vehicles in comparison to the
traditional vehicles, design criteria will have to be predominantly use oriented -
psycho-physiological, cultural, contextual and environmental. In this
presentation some design case studies based on the above would be
discussed. vehicles in Indian market and lead to a better and eco-friendly
future
INTRODUCTION

Electric vehicle especially electric cars are the

automobile which are powered by electric energy. The development of
the electric vehicle is very prospective and important process. As on
the recent interview of Maharashtra transport minister Shri Nitin
Gadkari he said that, “Upto December 2017 maximum cars , buses,
truck, caps, auto, etc. transport vehicle will run on electricity and also
on ethanol, bio-CNG , biodiesel. “Means in today scenario this topic
(electric cars) is well known in abroad but also in India. Some people
are claiming that hydrogen will be fuel in future cars. But the main
reason that this won’t be happen is that we cannot find hydrogen in
natural state we have to extract hydrogen from something else and
that cost a lot more money. Hence electric cars is best option.
Areas in which electricity produced
HISTORY
 1832 Robert Anderson invents non rechargeable
electric carriage.
 1835 Thomas Davenport built the first practical
electric vehicle and receiving a patent for the first
electric motor in 1837.
 1900 One third of all cars found on the road of
New York City , Boston and Chicago are electric.
 1912 Charles Kettering invents the electric
automobile starter. Eliminating The need for a
hand crank starter on gasoline powered vehicle
 1975 The U.S. postal service purchased 350
electric delivery jeep from AM general.
 1997 Toyota introduced the prius the first mass
– produce hybrid .
 2008 Tesla motors begins the a production
of the tesla roadster.
Construction & Working
What is out there that you need to have to build an EV (besides batteries)?

A) Motor – The power sent from the controller is then taken by motor .
It consists of two parts-
1. Rotor & 2. Stator

When power is sent to stator then rotating magnetic field created

and rotor starts revolving and which drives the wheel

B) Controller – It control the voltage given by the battery and also increase efficiency and
reliability and extended battery life time.

C) Charger – For recharging the batteries there is a charger in electric cars. The charger
contains a plug that connects electric vehicle batteries to an electric source
providing the batteries with electric energy.

D) DC converter – The system has DC converter in it which converts the AC power supply
to DC power supply to recharge the batteries.
E) Contractors - This one is like big on off switch powering up to drive circuit when we
turn the key.
Construction & Working
of electric car
ADVANTAGES
 Zero emission
 Cheaper to drive
 Safer than gasoline car
 Speed
 Maximum torque
 Gearless design
 Low cost maintanence
 Increase in use of the renewable sources
 Recyclable batteries
 Less fire hazards
Disadvantages
 High price
 Long charging time
Conclusion
The electric cars are expanding their feet in a worldwide
market. Electricity is the perfect substitute for oil and gasoline consuming
vehicles and it is great that we can lower the pollution at the same time.
Electric cars need to become commercially available so people can choose
between electric or other option .The conclusion is that electric vehicles have
much to offer and it is going to be a big part of our future.
