• barter The exchange of goods or services without involving money.
• bloc A group of countries acting together for political or economic goals, an alliance (e.g., the eastern bloc, the western bloc, a
trading bloc).
• BRIC An acronym for the four largest emerging economies: Brazil, Russia, India, and China.
• capital market The market for long-term securities, including the stock market and the bond market.
• captive held prisoner; not free; confined
• collateral A security or guarantee (usually an asset) pledged for the repayment of a loan if one cannot procure enough funds to
