INTRODUCTION

Transportation is the systems and modes of conveyance

of people and goods from place to place. It can be
considered the major infrastructural element of an
area.
The different elements of the transportation system
ideally need to be planned through an integrated and
complete process that includes land use planning. The
coordinated planning of transportation facilities
requires an understanding of the characteristics of the
modes of delivery and the patterns and densities of the
area that they are intended to serve.
OBJECTIVES
 To understanding logistic services and system
toward the transportation of the goods.
 To know the modes of transportation procedure and
benefits of transportation
 To know the current status of Indian logistics
services
 To know complete details of transportation.
 To understand which transportation is better for

demotic market
MODES OF TRANSPORTION
The exporter can send the shipment of goods
using anyone of the following modes of
transport as specified in the export contract.
The exporter can send the shipment of goods
using anyone of the following modes of
transport as specified in the export contract.
A) Road
B) Air
C) Rail
D) Water
E) Pipeline
ROAD WAY
Advantage
 A high relative speed of vehicles the major
constraint being government imposed speed limit
 Lower costs
 Accessibility
 Regular Small deliveries

Disadvantage
 Speed, Safety and Range
ADVANTAGES OF AIR WAY

 The moment of the goods is very fast

 Itis suitable for the transportation of the perishable

goods

 The warehousing costs are reduced to the

minimum
DISADVANTAGES OF AIR WAY

 Price will be very high

 Non –direct point

 It will be carry for only perishable goods

 Necessary
ADVANTAGES OF RAILWAY

 Lowest overall cost per unit cost

 Consistent time schedule

 Recommended with most commodity types

 Improving flexibility
DISADVANTAGES OF RAILWAY

 Another disadvantage of railway transport is its

inflexibility. It routes and timings cannot be
adjusted to individual requirements.
 Railway transport is unsuitable and uneconomical
for short distances and small traffic of goods.
 It involves much time and labor in booking and
taking delivery of goods through railways as
compared to motor transport.
SEA/ WATER

 Comparatively slow depends on tide

 Inflexible

 Reduce door to door capability

 Depends on availability of infrastructure in case of

canal
PIPLEN

 Transportation of homogeneous materials

 Lower transportation costs then other modes

 Higher initial cost

 Enable to transport a verity of materials

 Speed is be quit
FINDINGS

1) Most of the respondents said that road transportation

is use full for demotic market .

2) Logistic should be there for public service

3) It is must to satisfy human needs and wants

4) Logistic is must for manufacturing sector and supply

chain management
CONCLUSION

 Eachmode of transportation has its own strengths

and weaknesses.

 The effectiveness of each mode depends on several

factors including distance, price, and timeliness

 Servicesexist to help choose the best modes of

transportation
