Poems with Imagery
The Way I Play Soccer
Sweat streams down my face,
And my skin turns red under the watchful eye of the sun.
The sound of boos pounding the earth is deafening
As my enemies charge down the field towards me
I can sense the shooter is going to miss;
All at once, the ball collides into my chest.
Screams of victory roar across the field.
The grass stained, game ball rests
Rests lovingly between my two hands.
Poetry by Natasha Niemi

My Summer Day
Blue green like a crayon is the glistening, warm water.
The brownish sand is warm between my welcoming toes.
The excited shouts of the little kids
As they send loud bursts of water at each other.
Assortment of tan bodies stretch along their beach,
A chain of diversity thriving in the sun.
The red, yellow, and blue kites
Gracefully dot the sky.
This is the life on the beach!
Turning words into poetry…
• Use your sensory stimulus to write 3 very
detailed sentences about 1 of the images.

• E.g. The screeching, thunderous city closes in

around me as its’ putrid stench sickens me.
Trapped, trapped among the thousands
battling through the endless maze of traffic.
Trumpeting horns deafen me and a sea of
smells flood my being.
