Understanding the Presentation Terminology

Growth- Measures how much a student has improved from one exam to the next

Proficiency- Measures a student’s current level of achievement toward a specific


academic standard

MAP- Measures of Academic Progress

NWEA- Northwest Evaluation Association (creators of MAP test)


Understanding MAP Testing
• MAP test are administered 3x/year (Fall, Winter, Spring)

• MAP tests are adaptive online assessment. Questions increase or decrease in


difficulty based on the amount of correct answers.

• MAP test are aligned to common core standards

• MAP test incorporates real world scenarios

• Increase student academic engagement according to the Gallup Poll
• Decrease the total number of level 2+ referrals
