THE POET: A GHOST IN LOVE

The poet fell madly in love with


a beautiful girl named Eugenia,
who loved his poems and thus
emerged a romance that the
poet thought would be forever.
But Eugenia breaks the
commitment and asks him to
leave her, the poet learns that
the love of his life had married
another man with a lot of
money, and he joins in a
horrible depression that takes
him to take refuge in the drink,
neglecting his aspect until
losing the reason.
One winter day, they find
him dead in his bed.
However, the poet had not
left the world forever... A
man touches the door at
night saying that he is the
same poet, people
thought it was a joke but
in reality it is the soul that
wanders the streets in
grief reciting verses They
say that from time to time
couples who walk through
the Historic Center find
themselves a vagabond
who dedicates a poem to
them.
Esta leyenda se desarrolla en el Centro Histórico de la hermosa ciudad
mexicana de San Luis Potosí, donde deambula el fantasma de un poeta con
grandes zapatos sin suela, pantalón y saco roto, una camisa sucia y un
sombrero de copa agujereado, poeta que hace decenas de años sufrió un
desamor que lo llevó a estar cara a cara con la muerte.

El poeta se enamora perdidamente de una hermosa muchacha llamada


Eugenia, de buena familia a quien le encantaban sus poemas surgiendo así
un romance que el poeta pensó sería para siempre. Pero Eugenia rompe el
compromiso y le pide que no la busque más, el poeta se entera que el amor
de su vida se había casado con otro hombre de mucho dinero, y se sume en
una horrible depresión que lo lleva a refugiarse en la bebida, descuidando su
aspecto hasta perder la razón.

Un día de invierno, lo encuentran muerto en su cama. Sin embargo, el poeta


no se había ido del mundo para siempre…Un hombre toca en la noche las
puertas diciendo que es el mismo poeta, la gente pensaba que era un chiste
pero en realidad es el ánima que deambula por las calles en pena recitando
versos. Dicen que de vez en cuando parejas que pasean por el Centro
Histórico se encuentran a un vagabundo que les dedica un poema.

lack of love that led him to be face to face with death.
