• Note: The bank keeps its cash to other


banks. When a loan is sanctioned the bank
gives a check to Borrower and Borrower
collects the cash from the assigned bank.
Loan Approval and Sanction
• The Borrower applies to Managing director for the loan
• Includes additional documents
• After approval of the loan the Borrower goes to the counter to collect
the check
• The officer inputs the data according to approved forms and
documents (basic information).

Beginning:
The Software was hosted on local
environment in a pc and networked to other
computer in the same office

Now:
The Software is hosted in a server and
another server hosts SQL server, together
they server all 55 offices of the PKB.
Software
• Uses a “Customized Software”
• It was “given” at the inception of the bank by the “IT department” of
“Janata Bank” as to “Test-out” and understand the PKB’s need for
what they would need.
• In time some module were included
Rationalization for using the Software
• The Bank has limited products so it is sufficient for the PKB
• It is FREE
• No operating cost
• No/ small Training is required

branch and new employees

• In extreme case seeks help from “Janata Bank’s IT Department”
• According to IT Department, employees need only basic knowledge of debit
and credit to operate the software.

• Some errors occurred due to placing debit with credit and vice versa.

• Safety measures are inadequate
• Vulnerable user login system
• IT department has high employee turnover
• Fraudulent Opportunities
• “The entries can be changed and one needs only to issue a voucher”- can raise
a fraud possibility
• The management is not willing to change by showing reason that it is cost
efficient, actually there is no cost either
• Any person in Management can utilize the available fraudulent opportunity.
Recommendations
Recommendations
• Go for Secure Software
• The private information is more precious
• Proper Training on Software is required
• Should rethink the whole software if the PKB is going to use
Customized software where
• Automation should be prioritize
• Secure log in system
• Focus on User interface
• Input should be easier for who work directly with the customer
• Department head should be able to preview the changes made during certain
date.
