Components of HCV
 1.Field Survey (questionnaire preparation,
collection of data, analysis, presentation, report
writing,)

 2.Research project ( a research project on any


area in the health, guided by facilitator)

 3. Understand the organization of the district

 4.Field visits (visits to public health related


areas)- if time permits
What you are expected to learn

 Able to plan, develop questionnaires and carry


out epidemiological surveys
 Understand the ethics of doing a survey
 Develop leadership and teamwork
 Able to come to a community diagnosis and
suggest remedies
 Improve communication skills.
 Able to do a small research project based on
academic protocol.

its organisation

 Class divided into number of
stations/health clinic

 All survey groups going to a particular
station will finalise questionnaire first

 About 150-200 houses to be surveyed.

 The group also does a research project


 Each group can plan their own project
 The preparation for the project is done
before leaving for the field

to the panel during the debrief when the
students return from the field.

Safety precautions during field visit

 IMU dress code/ ID tags


 Avoid wearing any jewelry (ladies)
 No expensive handbags (ladies)
 Avoid bringing lap tops, I Pads etc. Cannot
guarantee they can’t be lost.
 Work in teams of two and three
 Appoint a safety officer in your group
 Useful to bring your own cars
