The organization must make
four basic choices with regard to
socialization and development
of employees:
Does the firm want
employees who conform to
the organization? Or does it
want employees who are
creative and show
innovation?
Should the organization
develop its human resources
( grow its own) OR should it
focus on hiring employees
who are already developed
(buy its own)?
Should the organization find
ways to improve the
performance of marginal
workers? OR should it simply
replace them?
How well does the organization’s
culture match the organization’s
overall strategy?
If the match is not good.
Decisions about what and how to
change must be made…
Conformity VS. Creativity
How to achieve the conformity
from organizational members
that is needed to function as an
organization and at the same
time to encourage employees to
develop their creativity?
Developing people VS. Hiring
developed people
The extent to which the organization will
train and develop employees versus hiring
already well trained and developed
persons.
Do U think organization like Procter and
Gamble will follow which approach with its
new employees and why?
( organization size is an important factor in
such decision…… and…….)
Strategy and Culture
An organization’s strategy and its
corporate culture are closely related.
For the corporate strategy to be
implemented, the proper culture
must be in place.
On the other hand: Culture can
facilitate or limit the strategies that
are even considered.
