• Famili: Orthomyxoviridae
• ssRNA with envelope
• Devided onto 3 types
Several subtypes, attack birds,
human, seal, horse, whale, pig, etc.

Influenza Type A:

• Subtype protein H: 18
• Subtype protein N: 11
• Each can combined, form many subtypes
• Common on air (infected human) i.e, H1N1,
H3N2
• Severe forms : H5, H7
• Subtype of Avian Influenza: H5N1
• Strain can be change rapidly (unstable
configuration)
• “drift and shift”
Risk Factors
• Direct contact w birds
• Secret from eye and nose
• Feses of contaminated birds
• Contaminated feed, cage, animal feeding kit.
• Air drop (i.e, droplet)
