 VinPlus - Overview

 VinPlus application is an end to end solution for automated

meter reading and meter data management. The application
features rich GUI for ease of use & navigation, further has a
better look and feel similar to Windows IDE.

 The application is comprised of three main modules. They are

 Data collection module
 Data conversion module
 Data definition and analysis module

 VinPlus – APIs

 VinPlus hosts MIOS compliant APIs for reading and converting

meter data to CDF files. Three APIs are involved to do these
operations
 Read API – To read the data from the meters
 Convert API – To convert the read data into CDF (common data
format) files
 MRI API – To read the data from MRI device

 Read API reads the data from the meter through different
channels (or modes of communication) like RS232, GSM, PSTN
and RS485
 MRI API reads the meter data from Sands and Analogic MRI
devices

 VinPlus – Scheduler

 Scheduler is run time instance scheduler, which schedules the

functioning of different instances of ReadAPI , The following
functionalities are part of the scheduler:

 Launching multiple instances of the API

 Display the statuses of Each API
 Monitoring and Control of the API Status
 Re-launching the instances in the event of error and/or failure
 Algorithm for time slot allocation
 Individual Start/Abort
 Status Report of the scheduler

 VinPlus – File Transfer tool

 File Transfer tool will download the meter data files from FTP
sites, then converts and parses the data to the database.
The files uploaded from the GPRS (intelligent MODEMs) enabled
MODEMs to the FTP servers will be downloaded to the local
machines and will be encrypted.

 VinPlus – Polling & Parser

 Polling is the Utility used for checking the connection between

Meter & communication port of the computer.
Features in Polling:
 Facility of polling all the batches at a time.
 Selective filters are available for performing selective polling of
meters.
 Stop button is provided to stop the polling process anytime during the
process.

 Parser is a utility to parse the contents of the CDF file (output file
of ConvertAPI) and dump the data into the data base. Parser will
pick the all the CDF files from a specified location and parse them.

 Display of the values or data points adjacent to the graph

 Selection of a particular series if n number of series are plotted in a
