develope transmission of electrical power
without wire.
 The first power gride installed in new york in
1886.
What is Wireless Charging?

 Wireless charging is one of the several methods

of charging batteries without the use of cable
device specific Ac adaptors.
 Wireless charging can be used for a wide
variety of devices including cell phone laptop
computers and mp3 players as well as larger
objects such as robots and electric cars.
Wireless power transmission for
mobile phones
Methods of charging

 Resonance of charging
 Inductive charging
 Radio charging
Resonance Charging
 It uses pheomenoce of “Resonance”, that causes
an object to vibrate when energy of certain
frequency is applied.
 Two copper coils are used one attached to
transmitter & another to receiver .
 Both coils are tuned to same electromagnetic
frequency.
 These coils when placed close to one another
power is transferred.
Examples
 Electric cars
 Robots
 Mobile Charger
 Laptop Computers
 Vaccum cleaners
Inductive charging

 Inductive charging is one kind of short distance

wireless charging.
 The method works on the principles of
“ELECTROMAGNETIC INDUCTION” where
the charger device will create an E.M Field with
Alternating polarity using a coil of insulated
copper wire & a similar coil will be placed
inside mobile device which will convert E.M
field back to electric current there by charging
the battery.
Examples:
 MP3 players.
 Personal digital assistants (PDA’s).
 Electric toothbrushes.
 Waterproof vibrating razors.
Radio charger:
 Signals this method is on the basis that radio
waves are widely in use to transmit and receive
cellular telephone,radio and wifi
 A radio wave once transmit ,propagates in all
direction until it reaches an antenna tuned to
proper frequency to proper frequency to
receive it.
Examples:
 Watches
 Hearing aids.
 Medical implant.
 Cell phone.
 Wireless keyboard.
 Small batteries
Design Overview:
 Trasmitter.
 Antenna.
 Receiver
Transmitter:
 A power transmitter acts as a power source.
 It will transmit power to the receiver side.
Antenna:
 It play an important role of mediator between
Trasmitter & Receiver.
 Important specifications:
1) Impedance of antenna.
2) Gain of antenna.
 Higher gain yields better result ckt.
Receiver:
 The receive main purpose is to charge an AAA
battery.
 A full-wave rectifier ckt is used because of its
simplicity and efficiency A.c signal.
Applications:
ADVANTAGEs
1. This way the technology simple
2. Multiple device charging
3. Convienience
DISADVANTAGES
1. Performance
2. Compatibility
3. Applicable for small distance
CONCLUSION
It provides great advantage to mobile phone users to
carry their phones anywhere even if the place is devoid
of facilities for charging. It has effect on human beings
similar to that from cell phones at present. The use of
Rectenna and sensor in mobile phone could provide
new dimension in the revolution of mobile power.
