 What is Pipe :-

 It is a Tubular item made of metal,

plastic, glass etc. meant for
conveying Liquid, Gas or any thing
that flows.
 It is a very important component for
any industrial plant. And it’s
engineering plays a major part in
overall engineering of a Plant.
 The term Piping means not only pipe but
includes components like fittings, flanges,
valves, bolts, gaskets, bellows etc.

or any thing that flows.

 Types Of Pipe : Seamless ,EFW, ERW

 Reference ASME Standard :

ASME B 36.10 /ASME B 36.19
 Flanges provide a bolted, separable
joint in piping.

 Typesof Flange: Weld Neck, Slip On

,Socket Weld ,Lap Joint ,Threaded and
Blind

 Reference ASME Standard :

ASME B 16.5
 The function of a elbow is to change
direction or flow in a piping system.

 Type Of Elbow: Long Radius, Short Radius.

 Availability In Degree : 90 , 45 ,180

 Reference ASME Standard :ASME B16.9

 A reducer is the component in Piping
that reduces the pipe size from a larger
to a smaller.

 Types of Reducer : Eccentric ,

Concentric.

 Reference ASME Std. :ASME B 16.9

ASME B 16.11
 Tee is a type of pipe fitting which is T-
shaped having two outlets, at 90° to the
connection to the main line & mainly
used for Branch Connection.

 Types of Tee : Equal , Reducing.

 Reference Standard : ASME B 16.9

 A gasket is a mechanical seal which fills
the space between two Flange Surface,
generally to prevent leakage from or into
the joined objects while under
compression.
 Types of Gasket :
› Non–Metallic Gasket(PTFE ,CNAF, Butyl-Rubber)
› Metallic Gasket (SW Gasket, RTJ, T&G)
 Reference Standard :
› ASME B 16.20/ ASME B 16.21

 A Nut is a type of fastener with a threaded
hole. Nuts are almost always used in
conjunction with a mating bolt to fasten
multiple parts together.
 Types of Bolts & Nuts :
› Stud Bolt
› Machine Bolt
 Reference Standard:
› ASME B 18.2.1
› ASME B 18.2.2

 Valves are mechanical devices that
controls the flow and pressure within a
system or process. They are essential
components of a piping system that
conveys liquids, gases, vapors, slurries etc.
 Types of Valve: Gate , Globe , Check, Ball,
Butterfly, Needle ,Plug etc.
