1. Bronx Zoo
LOCATION OF THE ZOO
COUNTRY : UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.
CITY : NEW YORK CITY.
SPECIES OF ANIMALS FOUND IN ZOO
 Currently housing around 4,000 animals and 650 different
species.
 The zoo exhibit an indoor tropical jungle and home to 650
species including Asian small-clawed otters, Javan lutungs,
silvery lutungs, northern white-cheeked gibbons, Matschie's
tree-kangaroos, Gharials, black leopards, pygmy slow loris and
Malayan tapirs, living in mangroves and on the beaches.

 Komodo Dragon and Aldabra Tortoise exhibits open at the
Bronx Zoo.

CITY : SAN DIEGO.
SPECIES OF ANIMALS FOUND IN ZOO
 It houses over 3,700 animals and over 650 different species
and sub-species.
Giant pandas, giraffes, elephants, polar bears, and koalas
(the largest collection outside of Australia) are just a few of
the many animals that call the San Diego Zoo home.
INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT ZOO
 It was the first zoo to exhibit the animals in a cage-less
manner (using hidden obstacles like moats), recreating as
much as possible their natural habitats. The zoo also holds
a conservation and research institute.
3. London Zoo, England

COUNTRY : ENGLAND.
CITY : LONDON.
SPECIES OF ANIMALS FOUND IN ZOO
The zoo holds a collection of about 20,200 animals and
700 species.
The zoo exhibit a variety of animals and species including
Polar bear, Giant panda, Hippopotamus, African bush
elephant, Gorilla, Western lowland gorilla, American
black bear, Aardvark, Orangutan, Giraffe, Penguin,
Meerkats and Tigers.
INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT ZOO
 The animals are all housed in state of the art enclosures,
many of the original Victorian features are still on show
at the park, giving a real British atmosphere.
4. Singapore Zoo, Singapore
LOCATION OF THE ZOO
COUNTRY : SINGAPORE.
CITY : MANDAI.
SPECIES OF ANIMALS FOUND IN ZOO
 There are about 315 species of animal in the zoo, of which some 16
percent are considered to be threatened species.
 It houses the largest captive colony of orangutans in the world.
 Animals found in the zoo include Asian elephants, white tigers,
free-ranging orangutans, chimpanzees, proboscis monkeys, pygmy
hippos, otters, Malayan tapirs, sun bears, crocodiles and naked mole
rats.

 The Singapore Zoo is the first zoo in the world to breed a polar bear
in the tropics, named Inuka.
 The Night Safari which is adjacent to the Zoo is the first night safari
in the world and is one of Singapore’s best tourist attractions.

5. Wellington Zoo, New Zealand

SPECIES OF ANIMALS FOUND IN ZOO
 Currently housing over 500 animals of over 100 different
species.
 It exhibits a variety of animals and species including Agouti,
Baboon, Bearded Dragon, Blue-Tongued Skink, Brown Capuchin,
Cape Barren Goose, Cockatoo, Cotton-top Tamarin and Goliath
stick Insect.
INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT ZOO
 Dedicated to preserving native New Zealand animals, like the
famous critically endangered national bird – the Kiwi.

 The zoo has been very prolific in the “Free the Bears” movement,
which aims to protect the bears of South East Asia.
 The zoo frequently wins commendations for its use of green
technologies and sustainable resources in animal handling.
