INTRODUCTION:
LMS is an software application that is used to plan, implement and
access a specific learning programmes.LMS involves the teachers and
instructors to create and deliver the content ,monitoring the student performance,
evaluating and accessing the students progress. It provide the students a platform
for the interactive discussions and video conferences.

OBJECTIVE OF LMS:
• To create class rosters, control registration and create waiting lists.

• To upload and manage documents containing curriculum content.

• To deliver course content over a Web-based interface, allowing for an entirely


remote educational experience for the instructor and student.

• The ability to create and publish course calendars.

• The ability to interact between students via functionalities like instant


messaging, email, and forums.

• The ability to establish methods for assessment and testing(such as multiple


choice quizzes )of students.

HISTORY of LMS:
In 1728, online degree courses were initiated by the Phillips. He advertised that
the students living in Boston will receive the lessons weekly. SO he sorted the
students with the potential of great hand writing courses that were delivered by
the correspondence.
• In 1960, Plato offered the course network and allowed students to learning
independently, monitoring the student progress and assigning lessons.
•In 2008, the first online LMS was released. It stores the information and runs
online .
•In 2002, Moodle was released .Users only need to download software to their
PC for learning.

•LMS has a specific courses management tools. Course management tools
manages the courses, course registration, syllabus.
•LMS involves the asynchronous and synchronous communication through
mail, chat, whiteboard.
•Student management tool contains the home page, self test , progress
tracking options ,on-line grading.
•The site is provided with teaching material and self assessment quizzes
for the students.

WORKING OF LMS:
•When you open the site ,on left side a list of option appears
containing the Dash board, Post, LMS, Media, Popup.
•One can create the new course by clicking on the NEW
option on the top of the site.

• To view the all courses , all courses option appears on the left side menu
of LMS. All the courses types appears on the LMS page

• Different courses can be displayed on the site by selecting on the Course


Category.
• On the option Course settings. Duration of courses ,starting date,student
number ,course curriculum and course instructions can be managed and reset.

ADVANTAGES OF LMS:
•Organization with the large number of staff and with the variety of roles,
their management and administration can be difficult so using the LMS
makes easy to manage the instructors, staff and other resources which are
needed to deliver the content.

•LMS facilitates the e learning process with an online network.

•LMS consolidates the information and all the trainings in a single


system. Instead of searching through many sites for files and data, with
LMS all this is available at your finger tips.

•LMS reduces teaching and trainings costs in several ways(travel


expenses, more time availability).
