View Angle vs. Focal Length

 Determined by lens focal length and sensor size

 View angle is inversely proportional to focal length

VIVOTEK BANDWIDTH MANAGEMENT
Why do we compress the audio & video?

Problem:

 Analog Video have tremendous amount of information.

 Digitalization of the video needs huge amount of bandwidth.

Solution:

 Video and Audio compression techniques were developed to reduce

the bit rate.
 Video Compression: MJPEG, MPEG-4, H.264
 Audio Compression: AAC, G.711, GSM-AMR

H.264 Codec
 Advanced Inter/Intra-frame Compression
 Consumes more CPU power than MPEG-4

 3 Profiles:
 Baseline Profile
 Main Profile
 High Profile

Image Complexity
 Complex images generates higher bit rates

Video Quality - VBR vs. CBR
1. Fixed Quality or Variable Bit Rate 2. Constant Bit Rate (CBR)
(VBR) →Fixed or Constant Bit Rate
→Fixed Quantization Factor →Variable Image Quality
→Fixed Image Quality →Variable Quantization Factor
→Variable Bit Rate

Fixed Quality or Variable Bit rate (VBR)
 Image Quality always stays the
same
 Same quantization factor
 Variable bit-rate

Static scene Variable scene

→ How much bandwidth is required?

→ How much storage required?

Constant Bit rate (CBR)
 Bit-rate stay constant
 Variable Quantization factor
 Variable Image Quality
 Best-effort!

Static scene Variable scene

→ How much storage required?

Resolution
 Higher resolutions will improve image quality but increases the cost!

Low Light vs. Bit Rate
 Low Light conditions may increases noise

 Noise will generate a lot of bit rate

Solution for Low Light --> IR
 Using IR LED act as light sources to counter the low light condition
 Noise problem will disappear  Bit rate will decrease
