FUNDING FROM THE MINISTRY OF SCIENCE, EDUCATION AND SPORTS

REVENUES FROM PROJECTS

 From 2005 to 2010 total funding of the Institute was relatively stable, but the stability of revenues
was preserved mainly thanks to the increase of funding from the Ministry of Science, Education
and Sports.
 Revenues from projects have sharply declined, and so has their ratio in total revenues.

 However, the structure of funding from the MSES has changed – an increasing share of funding
from MSES was dedicated to salaries and other expenses of the personnel
 Funding for the procurement of journals and scientific equipment has disappeared, while funding
for research projects became negligible

What have we learned from crisis?

 Production of publications per researcher is positively correlated with the

funding of research projects per researcher
 Therefore, stability of research funding has to be preserved regardless
of the phase of the business cycle
 The Institute has to potential to compete for more stable international
sources of research funding and has to invest further in its capacity to
engage in international research projects
 The Institute has to establish stronger links with the business community
