V Through an Exit interview by Ravi, following
major problems were noticed:
ΠLack of laid down process
ΠLack of transparency in communication
ΠProblems in integrating team work
V The 9/11 tragedy had affected VDS·s business
with U.S based software companies
V The attrition rate was quite high in Indian
branch, engineers spent much time on
recruitment than on their work!
V Teams were inwardly focused and team
members hardly knew any other member of
organisation ,apart their own teams.
V To over come the problem of attrition they
implemented the following steps

ΠEstablishment of organisational process
V They took initiative to take Exit interviews and
stressed on the improvement of their
weeknesses
V David conducted meeting with engineers and
discussed job allocation issues with new
recruits
V They introduced Buddy system in teams
,where one member of team becomes buddy to
a new recruit and eventually guides him
V Introduced formal performance appraisal
system
V Introduced ´open houseµ once in every 3
months where senior managers answered
queries of employees
V Changes were difficult to make.

demand.
