Air India was setup by JRD Tata. No more an elitist activity. A critical part of the infrastructure of the country. Air Corporations Act ,1953. Directorate General of Civil Aviation controls every aspect of flying. Airport Authority of India manages all national and international airports.

Jet Airways is an airline based in Mumbai , India. It is the county s second- largest international airline after Air India. In July 2008 , it was voted as the world s best long-haul airline after Singapore Airlines. According to March 2008 figures , Jet Airways share of India s domestic aviation market stood at 29.8 %.

Jet Airways was incorporated as an air taxi operator on 1 April 1992. In January 1994 , a change in the law enable Jet Airways to apply for scheduled airlines status. It began international operations to Sri lanka in March 2004. Jet Airways & Air Sahara were the only private airlines to survive the Indian business downturn of the early 1990s.

Jet Airways does not own its brand. A separate company substantially owned by Naresh Goyal , which licenses the brand to the airline in return for an annual payment.

Jet Airways serves 62 destinations. Jet Airways have expanded international operations to include destinations in Asia ,Europe ,Middle East & North America. Most recently , on 14 June 2008 , Jet started daily services on the Mumbai-Shanghai-San Francisco route.

Jet Airways has introduced a new cabin with upgraded seats in all classes. The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft has three classes of service: First Class. Premiere (Business) Class. .Economy class.

    

Jet Airways has codeshares agreement with the following airlines: Air Canada All Nippon Airways American Airlines Emirates Airlines (starts October 2008) United Airlines (starts November 2008)

Jet Airways has own awards recognising its service quality. Airline of the Year Category . Second airline to introduce private first class suites in the air.

This concept was first started in USA in the early 1990 s. Term originated within the airline industry referring to airlines with a lower operating cost structure than their competitors.

 

India s 1st low cost airline- Air Deccan (Aug 05) Their fares were 30% less than their rivals- Indian Airlines, Air Sahara & Jet Airways. Now faces stiff competition from Jetlite, SpiceJet, GoAir, IndiGo & Paramount Airways.
