STRINGING can be stated as the task of hoisting up the conductors and earth wires on the steel lattice towers

for the transmission line system once the towers have been set up. It is performed from angle tower to angle tower.

Planning
1) Collection of necessary documents 2) Selection of stringing section 3) Preparation and evaluation of drum charts 4) Transportation of equipment

Procedure
y INSULATOR HOISTING y ROLLER HOISTING y PREPARATION OF SECTION y PILOT WIRE PAYING OUT y EARTHWIRE PAYING OUT y CONDUCTOR PAYING OUT

Procedure
y TENSIONING(ROUGH &FINAL) y CLIPPING AND SPACERING y JUMPERING y FINAL INSPECTION

Emerging trends: a Futuristic Approach

yUsing helicopters in stringing yERS :emergency restoration system yHot wire maintenance

y Final inspection: This involves the following: y Fixing of corona rings to prevent corona effect. y Tightening of dampeners, jumpers etc. y Removal of temporary earthing. y Ensuring all insulators are in good condition y Clearing debris

y Safety guidelines: y For maximum safety of personnel constructing

transmission lines, proper and effective grounding procedures should be followed. Grounding can be accomplished by: y 1. Adequate grounding of conductors being strung and pulling cables being used, or y 2. Fully insulating equipment and operator, y 3. Isolating equipment and personnel.
