Introduction to the Company

Dey's Medical Stores (Manufacturing) Limited, also known as Deys, engages in the manufacture of essential, vital and life-saving drugs for marketing and supply throughout this country as well as abroad. In 1941, Mr. B.N. Dey, the then Managing Director of our organisation, from a mere urge to serve the society, started a small retail medical store in Calcutta. Deys is today regarded as one of the best in this country and may well be considered as a national pride.

Various dosage forms of drugs - capsules, tablets, granules, powders, oral liquid, drops, injectules, transfusions, ointments etc. of all the important categories of medicines - antibiotics, corticosteroids, vitamins, sulfas, antituberculars, antidiabetics, antipyretics, analgesics, antiasthmatics, antihypertensives, antidysentery, antiinflammatory, replenishing agents, etc., are now manufactured here under direct supervision of experts in the field, using all the modern precision machineries under strict hygienic and aseptic conditions.

Project Description

Objective
The

objective of the project assigned to me was to obtain a fair opinion from the immediate customers of the company, who are the doctors about their opinion on a particular molecule being used as an anti-fungal agent in the preparation of medicine for ocular use.

Result of the Project

The project resulted in a very important finding. At the end of the data collection and analysis, it became clear that Natamycin was by far the most popular choice among Opthalmologists . The survey also included an option about the opinion of doctors regarding the choice of packaging; Teal packaging showed to be the most popular form of packaging.

Procedure/Methodology

Study design: the study design involved preparing a questionnaire and doing a market survey on customers of the company, which in this case are the Doctors Study Settings: the research was conducted between for approximately one month period Sampling: the sample size was 40 and it was systematic and stratified sampling. The sample size would later be analysed and used as a feedback from the doctors regarding their preferences Data Collection: the data was collected on a one on one basis and with a very carefully planned but precise questionnaire.

Conclusion

I would like to thank Deys for giving me this opportunity to work with them so closely and for giving me the opportunity to learn about their workings and the organizational structure This Internship has given me a knowledgeable insight on how an organization functions and its methods of Market Survey inorder to attract more customers.
