Quantum was created as a management buy-out from Coats Viyella in December 2000, currently employing around 5000 people worldwide. Management, headed by Mike Shotton (Chairman), bought-out the manufacturing business which at the time included many UK manufacturing sites and a fledgling overseas manufacturing business . The business has evolved and grown into a 110m turnover operation. Each of the business units have kept to some degree their unique identities, which helps customers and staff to remember the long and proud histories of the UK clothing industry.
