What Is Cigarette

 A cigarette is a small roll of finely-cut tobacco leaves wrapped in a cylinder of thin paper for smoking.  The cigarette is ignited at one end and allowed to smoulder its smoke is inhaled from the other end, which is held in the mouth.  Most modern manufactured cigarettes are filtered and include reconstituted tobacco and other additives.  Cigarettes are sometimes smoked with a cigarette holder.  The term cigarette, as commonly used, refers to a tobacco cigarette but can apply to similar devices containing other herbs, such as cannabis.  A cigarette is distinguished from a cigar by its smaller size, use of processed leaf, and paper wrapping, which is normally white, though other colors are occasionally available.  Cigars are typically composed entirely of whole-leaf tobacco.

 Tobacco smoke also contributes to a number of cancers.  The mixture of nicotine and carbon monoxide in each cigarette you smoke temporarily increases your heart rate and blood pressure, straining your heart and blood vessels.  This can cause heart attacks and stroke. It slows your blood flow, cutting off oxygen to your feet and hands. Some smokers end up having their limbs amputated.  Tar coats your lungs like soot in a chimney and causes cancer.  Carbon monoxide robs your muscles, brain and body tissue of oxygen, making your whole body and especially your heart work harder.  Smoking causes disease and is a slow way to die.  Smoking causes fat deposits to narrow and block blood vessels which leads to heart attack.

Why Cigarettes Dangerous

More than 700 chemical additives are found in cigarettes. Some of them are classified as toxic and are not allowed in food. Once lit, a cigarette reaches a temperature of nearly 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. This high heat helps release thousands of chemical compounds, including poisons like carbon monoxide and hydrogen cyanide, at least 43 carcinogens, and numerous mutagens. All of these are drawn into the body when a smoker inhales.

Conclusion
There should be no illusions as to the dangers of cigarettes. The combination of a highly addictive, pharmacologically active substance (nicotine) and an array of noxious chemicals cunningly packaged in a highly efficient delivery mechanism can permanently and drastically affect health. People who smoke for as brief a period as 10 years, show a substantially higher rate of death, disease, and disability. Risks to the respiratory system, especially, and risks of cancer continue to plague the ex-smoker for years after quitting. Smokers should not delude themselves that they can smoke safely for 10 to 15 years and then if they are among the lucky few who can quit become as healthy and risk-free as if they had never smoked at all.
