IMPACT OF THE LACEY ACT
What is the Lacey Act?

– Affective April 1, 2009 the Lacey Act prohibits
the sale of any illegal wood products sold in the
US including wood flooring, furniture, etc.
– The acts imposes fines up to $500,000 on
violators
– According Carroll Muffett, Greenpeace USA
deputy the Lacey Act is "one of the most
important pieces of forest legislation passed in
this country in decades.”
