HISTORY OF MSSM
Council of School Sports Federation of Malaya was established in February 1958 through a meeting chaired by the head of a Federal Advisory of Malaya and comprises of all heads of state education officials. First meeting was held on March 3, 1958 at Rumah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Ministry of Education Malaysia The Council of School Sports Federation of Malaya has assumed the name of Schools Sports Council of Malaysia (Majlis Sukan Sekolah-Sekolah Malaysia) or better known as MSSM. MSSM is placed under the Education Act 1961 under the authority of the Minister of Education for better empowerment.

HISTORY OF MSSM
The purpose of establishment of the MSSM is to focus on sporting excellence in schools by adopting the concept of Sport for Excellence in line with the National Sports Policy.
On 6 April 2009, MSSM has been gazetted by His Majesty and published by the authority in accordance with the Education Act 1996. A total of 22 sports listed then and has grown to 24 sports until now

FUNCTION OF MSSM
MSSM works to promote and enhance excellence in 24 sports and 10 overseas sports programs involving ASEAN Schools Sports Council (ASSC), Asian Schools Sports Federation (ASSF) and the Asian Schools Football Federation (ASFF). Among the MSSM function are: Plan, implement, coordinate, supervise and evaluate all programs Coordinate all technical matters of the competition Publish the MSSM Management Handbook and MSSM Report Book Managing the General Meeting of the MSSM and the MOE Sports Awards (MSSM / MILO) every year In cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Olympic Council of Malaysia, National Sports Council, National Sports Institute and the Association of National Sports Managing Partner Sponsors Sports MSSM for (3+1 years) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
