In term of organization structure, it seems company so confidence for each hiring people can follow with corporate strategy without provide excellence control function in deep hirarcy Company try to avoid the union through setting up the associates that have some right benefit In the recruitment phase, company looking for talent not experience. In the case that many of the PVs were people who were looking to make money to support their life goals to be musicians, artists, writers, and entrepreneurs to name a few. If the employees recruited had more of an interest in the job they would be performing at the hotel, they would be much more willing and apt to adjust to the demands of the job.
Case Analysis
It is important to make sure you hire people who are experienced in the hospitality industry, can multitask well, in fact portman find only the tallented people not the experiences one The Portman Hotel Company would do well if it employed better organizational techniques, in fact Spencer Scott, the director of room services, had over sixty PVs reporting to him at one time. Because of this, Scott was stretched too thin and PVs felt as though they had no one to report back to when something went wrong Rewards are very important for employees. And with this being said, salaries need to be adjusted for the PVs. There is a standard base pay for all PVs, which is also something that brings down employee morale because employees feel as though they are not being rewarded for a job well done when they are receiving the same pay as those who are poor performers
Case Analysis
Management should have conducted a better job analysis and provided future employees with a much more detailed job description The employees recruited had more of an interest in the job they would be performing at the hotel, they would be much more willing and apt to adjust to the demands of the job Provide good reward and benefit schemes Re-organize the structure to enable control function and align with company strategies
Thank you
